Braya Ray called for an Uber in the summer of 2025, never expecting what would happen when she got into Meghan “Maggie” Whatley’s car. Braya went into labor with her daughter, Grace, and instead of panicking, Maggie helped deliver the baby.

The women bonded very quickly over the incredible shared experience, and it became more than just a story; they became family.

“What started with one Uber ride turned into a sisterhood. It became family so naturally,” Maggie shared.

“We’ve become closer, and I feel like we’ve built a real sisterhood. We spend time together, talk about life, talk about guys—it really feels like having an additional sister.”

For Grace’s first birthday, Uber wanted to help plan a special party for the very special baby girl. They chose the theme, “One Wild Ride,” which seemed perfect for Grace’s exciting birth story.

“We talked about what would make the day meaningful for her and worked together to plan the celebration. It honestly meant so much to me that they took the time to come together and make her first birthday such a beautiful experience,” Braya said.

“Everywhere you looked, you saw Grace and pieces of her story. It wasn’t just a generic first birthday party,” Maggie added.

“The details celebrated who she is, how loved she is, and this incredible Uber story that has become part of her life from the very beginning.”

Braya and Maggie can’t wait to share Grace’s birth story with her as she gets older.

“I hope Grace learns that it’s about sisterhood, and that you can help anybody and everybody, no matter their color, size, or shape,” her mom said.

“Maggie helped me without hesitation. She was so caring, and I hope Grace grows up to be that kind of person too.”
