  • John Stamos sees late friend Bob Saget in the joyful moments he shares with his 8-year-old son Billy.
  • Father and son wrote a children’s book about hummingbirds that celebrates spirits returning from the past.
  • Stamos proudly accepted the Bob Saget Legacy Award, honoring his friend’s lasting impact through the Scleroderma Research Foundation.

Bob Saget passed away nearly five years ago, and those who loved him most still grapple with the loss. John Stamos worked closely with Bob for years on Full House. In the family sitcom, the men played brothers-in-law. In real life, Bob Saget and John Stamos were as close as family can be.

John told People that since Bob’s passing, he continues to see and feel his friend through his 8-year-old son, Billy.

“I’ll tell you, he is really living through my son,” he said. “You know, I’m always looking for signs. Billy, my son, and I wrote a children’s book that’s coming out about hummingbirds. It’s about spirits from the past coming back. But I swear to God, I see Bob and my son now all the time.”

When we lose a loved one, life is never the same. Our heartache heals, but the loss remains. John Stamos thinks of Bob Saget often and the good times the men shared.

Bob Saget was a longtime supporter of the Scleroderma Research Foundation. In 2023, the foundation introduced the Bob Saget Legacy Award. John Stamos received the award this year.

He told People that he felt honored to receive the award, but missed the man it’s named for. He said that of any award he’s ever received, this one meant the most.

“I mean, look, you know, people leave behind a legacy. You know, people talk about, you know, missing someone. But we never talk about really what they’ve left behind. Bob left this behind. Sure, there’s television, sitcoms and reruns and whatever. But this is a legacy. This is something to leave behind. And I just want to really acknowledge that,” John said.
