Neil Crossley was supposed to escort his daughter Amy Totty down the aisle on her big day. Instead, he marched ahead solo, leaving his bride daughter standing at the starting line.

The sweet mishap was caught on video and shared by Yorkshire Folk on TikTok, where it quickly racked up 1.9 million views. Amy later explained to South West News Service that it was simply a miscommunication between her dad and the venue staff.

“He thought they told him to walk when they had actually said wait for me!”

Rather than ruining the moment, Neil’s premature stroll down the aisle had everyone—including groom Harry Totty and all the guests—laughing out loud. Amy said the unexpected comedy actually helped her in a surprising way.

“I especially appreciated it, as I was trying very hard not to cry and he helped me compose myself. It was a special moment none of us will forget.”

Neil took the blooper in stride, even turning it into comedy gold during his father-of-the-bride speech later in the reception.

“After the initial fumble, it just felt very funny to everyone, including myself,” Neil told SWNS.

“The joke I made about the guests thinking I was at the wrong wedding got a huge laugh, so everyone took it in good spirits.”
