On August 11, 2014, the world lost one of its funniest people and brightest lights to suicide. On that day, Robin Williams’ social media pages went dark and remained that way for more than 12 years.
On August 17, 2026, Robin’s adult children, Zak, Zelda, and Cody Williams, reopened their father’s Instagram page to make a statement in his honor regarding AI. The family wants Robin Williams’ social media to remain his own.
“As we recognize what would be our Dad’s 75th year, we’re grateful to see new generations discovering his work while longtime fans continue to celebrate the joy he brought into their lives. As technology evolves, we want this to be a safe, trusted place where the stories, photos, videos, and memories shared reflect his legacy with authenticity, warmth, and care,” his children wrote.
Devoted Kids Want Their Dad’s Legacy to Live On
Robin Williams’ children know how much their father meant to so many people and want to ensure that his humor remains a part of their lives.
“This is our way of sharing his unique talent and humor with the world, including the moments that made us and so many of you laugh, as we remember our Dad’s extraordinary life and work. He continues to inspire us and delight people all over the world. Zak, Zelda, and Cody Williams,” they added.
Knowing that Robin Williams’ kids want to keep his memory alive made so many fans happy.
“This was a delight to see while scrolling. Looking forward to it,” someone wrote.
“He is so missed by all of us, and I know even so much more by all of you. Thanks for keeping his legacy front and center and sharing it with us,” another comment reads.
This person agreed, writing, “I have been a fan of your dad since I was a child. I cried the day he died and it still hurts knowing he’s no longer physically here. Sending love you all.”
