Recent photos show the beloved singer-songwriter out and about in New York City on April 24, 2026, radiating positivity and strength. He hadn’t been feeling his best in the fall of 2025, dealing with a persistent cough and bronchitis that prompted his doctor to investigate further.

Sadly, Barry announced in December 2025 that doctors had diagnosed him with lung cancer. He underwent surgery shortly after and hoped to return quickly to performing his final farewell tour.

Unfortunately, his recovery took a bit longer than anticipated.

Barry Manilow Feels the Love From His Devoted Fans

The Mandy singer shared a statement in February explaining that, although he was eager to hit the stage again, his doctors advised him to take more time to heal properly.

In a March interview, Barry Manilow opened up about how the cancer diagnosis caught him by surprise.

“You just don’t even think about [how fragile life is]. And suddenly, you have lung cancer. But I’m still here. I’m not all here; there’s part of me that isn’t here — they took out a part of me, and now I’ve got to figure out, ‘What do I do?’”

In his most recent social media post, Barry shared memories of his early career days and why he took every job opportunity that came his way. If he hadn’t, we might not have those iconic jingles we still remember today—like reminding us that, like a good neighbor, State Farm is there!

He was in New York City for his induction into the American Advertising Federation Hall of Fame—an honor he so richly deserves for his creative contributions to American culture.
