Quick Smiles:

  • Michael and Rogina Catlett wed in his hospital room just days before his passing.
  • Wish Upon a Wedding helped arrange their beautiful ceremony in only two days.
  • The couple cherished their brief time as newlyweds, surrounded by loved ones.

Michael Catlett chose to spend his final days married to his beloved Rogina, exchanging vows in his hospital room at Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo, California. Wish Upon a Wedding quickly organized the celebration, making sure the couple’s dream wedding became a reality.

“Through sickness and health, love remains,” Rogina said. “When you love someone, you stay to the end. You get an opportunity to express love. Just because the one you love is sick doesn’t mean you quit. It becomes not about you but about us.”

The non-profit arranged every detail, bringing together a planner, florist, photographer, and officiant in just two days. Surrounded by friends and family, Michael and Rogina shared tender moments throughout the ceremony.

“It meant that I was his everything, his last love, it validated me and what we were to each other,” Rogina said. “I felt so special and just wanted to protect him.”

Though their time as husband and wife was short, it was filled with profound love and joy. Each night, Rogina finds comfort in watching their wedding video, holding close the memories they created.

“I watch Michael pull me close to him, and I know how happy he was,” she shared. “In this moment, I watch us becoming one, finally.”

May their story remind us how treasured every moment with loved ones truly is.
