Cat Missing For Over A Year After His Family Relocated Walked 280 Miles To Get Back To Their Old Home

  • Cocci the cat’s family had to transfer to a new home that was 450 kilometers away from his old home.
  • She went missing for 13 months and was found 5 miles short from her old home.
  • Cocci lost a lot of weight and had an infection on her face plus fleas and worms from the misadventure but was reunited with her family.

Cocci the cat has considered the Orne region of France her home for a long time.  When her family moved to Normandy, she must have missed her old home that she bolted out away from it despite efforts to keep her.

But the family did not know that that was her plan and so for three months they were worried about where she could be.

Her mom, Laëtitia De Amicis and her human and feline siblings Felys and Crapaud, looked for her all over but had no luck. Laëtitia said she told her kids that maybe Cocci went back to Ambly to look for them.

But when she saw a post on Facebook about a stray cat found more than 450 kilometers away and just five miles away from their home in Ambly, she recognized that it was Cocci!

Upon a local veterinarian’s confirmation that the animal was 10 years-old and had been spayed, she definitely knew it was Cocci!

After an exchange of photos, she sent her dad to identify Cocci and during a video call, her dad was cuddling the adventurous cat. He said the cat would only respond to the name Cocci after calling it different names.

With her kids in tow, they went to pick her up and Cocci immediately recognized them.

Cocci’s 280-mile cross country walk made her underweight and she had an infection and fleas and worms.  She had to remain at the vet for three weeks for treatment before she was allowed to go home.

But once she was home, Cocci was back to her cuddly persona.
