Cats are known to have the ability to easily climb high places.

One kitty named Lalah had the perfect home to develop and perfect her climbing skills: a rock climbing gym.

The gym’s owner, Mitsuru Goan, “decided to shelter her in the gym” after she was found dodging vehicles across the street.

“Since then, she has been a manager” of the Boulbaka 2 bouldering gym, “saying ‘Meow!’ to visitors every day,” Goan told The Dodo.

Like all cats, Lalah loved jumping up on the shelves. She also climbed up the rope that hung from the ceiling.

It was not long until she took interest in the rock wall. So she started to climb up stepladders to reach it.

Goan shared, “She got the confidence to try. Then she started to touch those holds on the wall for bouldering — trying to go higher.”

Lalah learned to climb the rock wall by copying the movements of other climbers!

She was soon able to reach more and more handholds as she grew bigger. Small crowds started to gather to watch her and cheer her on!

One day, Lalah finally made it to the top.

Lalah eventually lost interest when the scheduled rearrangements of the wall rocks changed the wall she was climbing on.

Goan said that Lalah now prefers napping and seeking attention from gym-goers.

The restless cat even “loves to slip in visitors’ bags and sleep there,” Goan shared. “You need to pay attention not to bring her home with you.”

She still gets quite a workout, though, since “she still climbs up the rope up to the ceiling, about 16 feet high,” said Goan.

Perhaps Lalah is seeking “a new challenge,” said Goan, after catching her staring at the wall from time to time.
