Nashville Songwriter Turns Fox Rescue Into Heartwarming Local Legend

Quick Smiles:
- A Nashville songwriter spends his free time rescuing sick foxes from a mange outbreak
- Neighbors now recognize Jerry Vandiver as the gentle hero behind every healthy fox sighting
- His quiet acts of compassion have spread smiles across the entire community
A Nashville singer-songwriter has become a star—but not because of his guitar playing. Jerry Vandiver, whose songs have been recorded by country stars like Tim McGraw, moonlights as a volunteer hero to the local red fox population. As Tennessee suffers from a serious mange epidemic, particularly bad in the area around Vandiver’s adopted home, he steps in with medicine, food, and patience.
Each evening he sets out simple feeding stations and applies mange treatment to any fox brave enough to approach. Over time the once-scrawny animals return with glossy coats and lively eyes, living proof that steady kindness heals.
“They trust me now,” Vandiver says with a gentle smile. “I see the same ones again and again, and they look better every week.”
Word of his nightly rounds spread through neighborhood social-media posts and photos of foxes lounging on his porch. Locals began calling him the Fox Guy, and children wave whenever they spot his pickup truck.
“It’s the little things that keep hope alive,” one neighbor shared. “Jerry reminds us that caring for the creatures around us makes everyone feel safer and happier.”
His songs may fill concert halls, yet the music he finds most rewarding is the soft rustle of healthy foxes returning to the woods at dusk.

We are to be GOOD STEWARDS of what GOD put us in and on!
By allowing disease to destroy Nature, we are failing at the ONLY JOB asked of us by our MAKER!
Example: a deer can only accommodate safely 6 does. Any more brings disease and death.
Thank you to this man for doing what we ALL should be doing. Volunteering in rescue: horses, dogs, cats, birds, ANY animal!
