Dachshunds are known for their vocal nature, but did you know some of them have a knack for singing along to music?

A delightful video shared on TikTok by @jaaaashua in August showcases a female dachshund lounging in her doggy bed.

When her owner asks, “Alexa play ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ by Chris Stapleton,” the dog does something extraordinary.

“The first note is all she needs,” her owner explains in a caption accompanying the video.

As soon as the country song begins, the dachshund starts to sing along, mimicking the musician’s notes perfectly.

While it’s common for dogs to bark or howl to music, what drives this behavior?

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), it’s all in their genes.

“They do it to let other pack members know where they are or to warn off other animals encroaching on their territory,” the AKC explains.

Dogs have a sense of pitch and can howl on different notes.

Because they can detect higher frequencies than humans, they might be howling along to sounds we can’t even hear.
