Zeeky was only 8 months old when he was found in a remote area on the Caribbean island of Curacao. He was severely underweight, and parts of his hind legs were missing due to abuse. He also has scabies and advanced tick disease. He also feared human touch.

His story reached Debbie Pearl, the founder of the non-profit animal rescue organization Dream Fetchers: Project Rescue.

Having taken care of many other handicapped rescue dogs, she knew she could help Zeeky recover.

After staying at his foster home for recovery, his affectionate personality came out. He really just needed some love.

Debbie shared, “He’s very grateful. I think everything is amazing to him because he had nothing.”

Zeeky spent 10 weeks in recovery before Debbie flew to Curacao to meet him and his rescuers. She then took him home with her to California.

She said that the once fearful pup immediately ran over to her without any fear!

Zeeky has since been fitted with prosthetics and is learning to walk — and even run! — with them.

Zeeky was able to overcome the trauma he faced early on in life and came out as one of the happiest pups you’ll ever meet. His infectious smile inspires others to also choose happiness!

“He’s just so loving. No matter who he meets, he wags his tail,” Debbie shared. “He just wants to get cuddles from everybody, which is super endearing. He inspires me every day to be a better person.”
