Dog conquers her fear to spend time with beloved friend [Video]

• Neighbors Pax and Penny loved greeting each other across the fence ever since they first met.
• But Pax was heartbroken when the winter season came and Penny couldn’t go outside because of her fear of snow.
• Their owners helped shovel a more comfortable path for Penny, who eventually conquered her fear thanks to Pax!

Pax and his family, Emily and Justin Thomas, moved into their new home in October 2020. He was so excited to run around in a big yard, and couldn’t wait to make a new friend or two. So when their neighbors welcomed home a puppy named Penny, it was love at first sight!

Penny was only 3 months old when she met Pax in March 2021, but they could already get together well.

Emily shared, “Our neighbors decided to fence their yard too, and they put in a gate at the back so we would be prepared for playdates!”

Pax would look for Penny every time he was outside.

And when Penny could reach the top of the fence, the pair would always greet each other and share a kiss over the fence every day!

They had playdates all the time, and would share toys over the fence.

It seemed like they would always be there for each other every day — until the winter season came.

“While Pax loves the snow and will lay outside in a pile of it as long as we’ll let him, Penny is not a fan of snow or rain,” Emily shared.

When the past few weeks brought a lot of snow, Penny wouldn’t go outside. Pax would stand at the fence and wait for her, heartbroken.

Poor Pax didn’t understand why Penny wouldn’t come outside to spend time with him.

Unable to endure Pax’s sadness, Penny’s parents decided to help them out.

They shoveled a path from their house to the fence to help make her feel safer to venture out.

Penny was still hesitant at first, but she eventually mustered up the courage to make her way to the fence and reunite with her beloved friend.

Pax helped Penny overcome her fear!

Emily shared, “They were super excited to see each other, and once she had Pax to motivate her, she dove right in. They’ve had play dates in the snow almost every day since!”

Penny and Pax can now spend more time with each other, come rain or snow.
