Dog Escapes Daycare To Return Home And Ring Doorbell [Video]

• The Hensons went on a vacation in Las Vegas, so they placed their dog Dexter in doggy daycare.
• It turns out that Dexter missed his home, so he escaped daycare and returned home on his own.
• When he rang the doorbell, the camera notified his out-of-town parents, who had to inform the daycare of Dexter’s escape.

Dexter had to be placed in a doggy daycare near their Kansas City home because his parents, Jeremy and Sarah Henson, were having a week-long vacation in Las Vegas.

But it seemed like Dexter missed his home and decided to return by himself.

On Feb. 16, the Hensons were alerted by their home-security app. Dexter has been pawing at their home’s front door and wondering why no one was welcoming him home!

Jeremy said that it wasn’t surprising that Dexter managed to make his way back home. But he was worried that the daycare may be completely unaware that Dexter had escaped, so he called them.

Jeremy told the daycare, “My dog’s on our front porch, but I think he’s supposed to be there.”

It turns out that Dexter jumped a 6-foot fence to escape and walked 2 miles for 90 minutes to get back home.

Traveling by car through Johnson County is already difficult, but Dexter managed to make the journey by himself.

The Hensons said that Dexter has been taking long walks around the area with them. The frequent walks could have helped him navigate.

And he was even able to ring the doorbell to let his parents know that he very much prefers his own bed.

Thankfully, a staff member from the daycare later picked Dexter up and kept him safe until the Hensons’ return.

Perhaps the Hensons now know to take Dexter with them on vacation, or simply never leave for too long!
