Jeremy Spry, a 43-year-old from Houston, Texas, shared an adorable video on TikTok, showing Armani inspecting his bandaged knee following quad tendon repair surgery.

Armani’s careful sniff and subsequent nudge to cover Spry’s knee with a blanket left Jeremy in awe.

“It’s like he knew I was hurting,” Spry said, “and wanted to help.”

Spry described how Armani persistently tried to inspect his leg, and when finally allowed, showed remarkable tenderness.

“Now, every time he gets up close, he has to inspect it again,” Spry added.

The video, posted on TikTok (@spree968) on August 27, quickly went viral, amassing over 1.2 million views and more than 118,600 likes.

Layered over the clip, the caption reads: “He’s been wanting to inspect my leg, then this is what he does.”

Dogs have a keen sense of smell, enabling them to detect even the slightest changes in odor, which can indicate their owner’s health status.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) notes that this ability allows dogs to perceive changes in blood glucose levels or even detect cancer by sniffing a patient’s breath or tissue.

They can also sense shifts in body language and routine, which Armani likely noticed with Jeremy using crutches and moving less around the house.

Many dogs instinctively comfort their owners when they’re unwell, whether by tucking them under a blanket or cuddling up to them.

The AKC suggests this could be a way for dogs to seek comfort for themselves or because they know that caring for their owner brings positive reinforcement.

Jeremy’s knee is on the mend, and there’s no doubt that Armani’s attentive care has played a part.

While Jeremy has another dog, a fawn Doberman, who also showed interest in his bandaged knee, Armani’s concern stood out.

Spry never anticipated the overwhelming response the video received on TikTok.

“I’ve never had a video that received so much attention before,” he said.

“There’s been lots of likes and comments on TikTok after posting that video.”

“I think after today, I’ll have to serve him a steak dinner for all the publicity he’s gained,” Spry joked.
