Quick Smiles:

  • DNA found at the scene could help identify the suspect.
  • Authorities are analyzing unique surveillance footage for clues.
  • Tech companies are assisting investigators in retrieving additional video evidence.

Investigators in Arizona remain hopeful as new details and technology breathe fresh life into the search for Nancy Guthrie after her recent abduction.

Sheriff Chris Nanos shared that DNA collected at Guthrie’s home may belong to the suspect and is being analyzed for potential breakthroughs.

“We believe that we may have some DNA there that may be our suspect, but we won’t know that until that DNA is separated, sorted out, maybe admitted to CODIS, maybe through genetic genealogy,” said Nanos.

While a glove found nearby did not yield matching DNA, video footage has shown the suspect wearing a distinctive gun holster, which authorities are using to gather tips from local gun shops.

Investigators also noted the possible presence of a ring under the suspect’s glove, offering another lead to examine.

“People have circled and said (it’s a ring). My speculation is, I’m going to give that to my team. They’ll look at that. They’ll analyze it, and we’ll see,” Nanos explained.

Technology giants like Google, Meta, and Apple are working with authorities to recover more surveillance footage, offering valuable support in this delicate process.

Sheriff Nanos emphasized the determination of investigators to bring Guthrie home, highlighting the cleared status of her family and discouraging speculation.

“This is a family who’s lost their mom to a monster,” he stated. “We’re going to find her, and we’re going to find that monster. But come on, we can do better.”

Stay tuned for more uplifting updates as efforts continue, and remember, every positive lead brings hope for a safe reunion.
