A New York City couple decided to make their wedding ceremony extra special by including their beloved goldendoodle, George.
However, things didn’t quite go as planned.
In a video shared on Instagram under the username @woofitsgeorge, the couple is seen exchanging vows while George stands to their right, seemingly uninterested in the proceedings.
Rather than watching his humans, George amusingly turns his back to the guests, appearing more fascinated by the rain falling outside the gazebo.
“When you include your dog in the ceremony and speech, but he refuses to look at anyone,” reads the layover text on the video.
The caption humorously adds, “Who is surprised by George turning his back on us and the audience during our ceremony? He’s like let me know when this is over.”
Irma, the 33-year-old bride, shared that George had a special role, walking down the aisle with her nephews.
“With just our siblings standing with us at the altar, my husband’s sister held George during the vows,” she explained.
“In the moment, our focus was entirely on each other, so it wasn’t until we received our wedding photos and videos that we realized George had faced away from the audience for the entire ceremony.”
Irma added, “It had rained during the ceremony, and we couldn’t help but laugh, thinking he was captivated by the beautiful rainfall instead of watching his humans exchange vows.”
While some dogs thrive on being the center of attention, others might be more reserved.
British animal charity Blue Cross advises couples to consider their dog’s comfort before assigning them a special role in their wedding.
If you believe your dog will enjoy being part of your big day, take precautions to ensure everything goes smoothly.
First, confirm that your venue is dog-friendly and has a designated potty area.
Identify a trusted person to stay with your dog, someone your pup likes and who can take them home if needed.
Inform your guests not to feed the dog, as some foods can be harmful.
Also, be cautious with your flower arrangements, as some flowers are toxic to dogs.
Lastly, notify your photographer in advance to include your furry friend in the photos.
