Clarence was recently rescued from a dire situation. He was so grateful for the second chance that he kept hugging his rescuers, and refused to let them go!

Clarence is believed to have spent his entire life outside in his previous family’s yard. The poor pup was then abandoned in a Walmart parking lot.

There, the 4-year-old golden retriever-mix made friends with fellow abandoned dogs, a Chihuahua-mix and a German shepherd.

Clarence and his German shepherd friend were eventually captured by animal control, who contacted his owner.

When his owner refused to pick him up, he was put on the list of dogs to be euthanized! Fortunately, he and his German shepherd friend were rescued just in time by Hounds In Pounds, who are now looking for their forever homes.

Clarence had a tough upbringing, but he held no ill will and made sure to express his gratitude to his rescuers.

Hounds In Pounds described Clarence as “sweet, gentle and so grateful to be safe.”

“We can’t help but get lost in Clarence’s golden coat, it reminds us of sunshine and so does his personality,” they added. “He is bright, warm, and brings light to those who know him.”

The organization’s founder, Cat Suzuki, calls Clarence an “angel” who just loves being by his humans’ side and being a sweet mush. He gets along with everyone — including kids and other animals.

Clarence’s rescuers have no doubt that the sweet pup will bring joy to his new family. In the meantime, he will be traveling from Georgia to New Jersey to begin the search for his forever home.

Cat noted that Clarence quickly gets attached to people, so a perfect home would be with someone who are around more often, and someone who would love “a movie bud or snuggle partner.”

Clarence is looking forward to meet his new favorite human and give them a hug filled with love!
