  • The donation through the National Auto Body Council proves community kindness can truly change lives.

After spending years without wheels but with no shortage of errands, a Minneapolis veteran recently received a transformational gift.

Students at a Minnesota engineering school beautifully refurbished a 2020 Hyundai Elantra for the Recycled Rides for Schools program at the nonprofit National Auto Body Council.

US Navy veteran Robert Hanson hasn’t had his own car since his old one gave out, making even simple trips a challenge.

“It means everything to have my independence back,” Hanson shared warmly.

“I can run errands, visit friends, and just live my life again without depending on others.”

The auto collision students spent countless hours repairing and restoring the donated vehicle, turning it into a reliable ride that gleams like new.

“Watching the students work so hard to help a veteran was incredibly inspiring,” one program coordinator noted.

“It shows what young people can accomplish when they put their hearts into giving back.”
