Neil, who’s been with the company since day one — first as legal counsel, then as CEO starting in 1992 — shared his inspiring vision for the brand’s future. He described Hooters as a “beach themed” restaurant “that many families frequent, and singles and couples.”

The changes go beyond just talk. Neil acknowledged that the current uniforms don’t align with the family-friendly atmosphere he envisions, and that’s about to change in a big way.

“There’s nothing wrong with a pair of shorts if fitted properly,” he said. “But I think in a dining place, there is something wrong if they’re in a thong type of uniform.”

This refreshing commitment to modesty and family values is exactly what America needs right now. Neil pointed out that in major cities, the restaurants already attract diverse crowds of families looking for a fun, casual dining experience.

“If you’ve ever been to a Hooters in Chicago or in Tampa Bay or in South Florida, you’re going to see tons of families, tons of children,” Neil explained.

The CEO also reflected on how times have changed since the restaurant’s founding. The brand name itself was a play on words from a different era, and Neil recognizes the need to evolve with modern family values.

“I understand the word hooters, the Steve Martin joke,” Neil said. “It was a double entendre. It was acceptable humor back then, and it’s coming back to be acceptable humor, but it was oversexualized too much in the last 15, 20 years.”
