Quick Smiles:

  • A brave young kangaroo found itself over a mile from shore and was gently rescued by local divers.
  • The captain spotted the joey first, and the team worked together to bring it safely aboard.
  • After a short rest and a snack, the little marsupial was released back into the wild.

The waters of Boston Bay, South Australia, offered an unforgettable sight one calm afternoon. A small kangaroo was paddling far from land, its head barely above the waves. The crew aboard a local dive boat could hardly believe their eyes.

Captain Jake Murray quickly alerted his passengers, and the group moved into action. Divers slipped into the water and gently guided the exhausted joey toward the boat. Once aboard, the kangaroo rested on the deck, safe and sound.

“We just wanted to make sure it got back to where it belonged,” Murray later shared.

The little kangaroo was given water and a piece of fruit before the crew returned to shore. Within hours it was hopping happily through the coastal scrub, back where it belonged.

Stories like this remind us that even in unexpected places, kindness and quick thinking can make all the difference.
