The relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry has faced its share of challenges since 2020, yet recent developments show the King’s continued commitment to maintaining family connections.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle planned to bring their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the United Kingdom for a visit in June 2026, King Charles extended an offer for them to stay at Buckingham Palace.

“If they wanted him to stay there, they would find him a room even if he arrived in the middle of the night, let’s face it,” an insider told Page Six.

Prince Harry reportedly accepted the invitation after the July 3, 2026 deadline had passed. While the King had set a clear timeline, the Duke of Sussex’s delayed response led to a change of plans.

“I am aware of multiple briefings from Buckingham Palace last week suggesting that the duke had not accepted the offer of accommodation at a Royal Residence,” the spokesperson said. “Following [the Royal and VIP Executive Committee’s] decision not to provide security for his family, the duke spent last week making alternative security arrangements. Once those arrangements were in place, he was able to formally accept the offer of accommodation for himself over the weekend.”

An aide close to the situation shared that King Charles “snapped” when the deadline was missed.

“The king’s patience snapped. He wants to be a loving father and grandfather, but that was being tested beyond endurance. He is not willing to be pushed around, nor to indulge a constant state of chaos,” the insider said.
