The adventurous feline has stolen a wide array of items, including glasses, cutlery, and toys.

His mom, Alice Bigge, decided to set up a reclamation shelf outside their home to help their neighbors reunite with their stolen belongings.

The sign, marked “Klepto-cat,” reads, ”Our cat Charlie likes taking things. Do any of these things belong to you? If they do please help yourself!”

Alice’s family took in Charlie and his sister Smudge, who were abandoned as kittens.

She shared how she realized that Charlie was a thief when toy dinosaurs kept popping up all over their house.

“I saw a green stegosaurus one day and wondered if one of my mate’s kids might have dropped it here,” she shared. “The following day, I saw a red stegosaurus, and they just kept coming! I woke up with a diplodocus right next to my head on my pillow—which made me think of that moment from The Godfather. Charlie just sat there looking proud of himself.”

She realized that Charlie had been stealing the toys one by one from a kid’s nursery nearby.

Alice said that Charlie wasn’t initially allowed to venture outside. But as soon as he got outside, he started bringing random things back home.

”He has never caught a bird or a mouse or anything like other cats do,” Alice shared. “He just goes off and finds whatever he can.”

Among other stuff, Charlie also likes stealing clothes pegs and mini skateboards. One day, he even brought home a large rubber duck!

His thieving nature has made his 11-year-old human sister, Martha, call him “Klepto-cat.”

“It’s so funny now that people are loving his story because we’ve been laughing about him for over a year,” Alice shared.

“I think there’s something about the quest that he enjoys. Whether it is discovering something new or just wanting to please me and bring his family a present,” she added. “Whatever it is, we still love him to bits!”
