A pet budgie that vanished when a storm blew open a kitchen window was found hiding in a storm drain a mile from home. Luna made her great escape from owner Cimberley Frost’s home in Northampton, England when strong winds following Storm Boelo forced open a window and she flew away.

But the tiny bird’s adventure came to a heartwarming end thanks to the kindness of a passing motorist. The driver noticed the little budgie hopping near a storm drain and immediately pulled over to investigate.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this little bird hopping around by the drain,” the driver later shared. “I knew I had to stop and help her.”

The kind stranger contacted local animal rescue services, who carefully retrieved Luna from the drain and ensured she was safe and healthy. The tiny budgie was soon reunited with her grateful owner, Cimberley Frost.

“I’m so thankful to the person who stopped to help,” Cimberley said. “Luna means the world to me, and I’m overjoyed to have her back home safe.”
