Orphaned Baby Bobcat Finds Love and Care From A Foster Domestic Cat [Video]

  • A 6-week-old bobcat kitten was found abandoned by its mother.
  • The Millstone Wildlife Center coordinated with the Spicy Cats which had a domestic cat mum that has fostered kittens to take care of the bobcat kitten.
  • The bobcat kitten has thrived in the loving momma cat’s care and will be released to the wild after it experiences living with another bobcat.

When the Millstone Wildlife Center were alerted to an abandoned baby bobcat, they immediately rescued the kitten.  Fortunately, it was physically healthy but was missing parental love and companionship.  At only six weeks old, it needed the tender loving care of a mum.

Scary vicious bobcat caught eating a housecat on camera Jk, all this baby wants to do is play with Honey’s big ol ears. Some FAQ from our post yesterday on their relationship: •Will they be together forever? No, Honeybun is going to make an awesome pet for someone someday. The bobkitten will hopefully join an older bobkitten already at the rehab in the coming weeks, she’s just too tiny right now. •Is Honey in danger? Nope! The bobkitten is only a few weeks old. Though she is similar in size to Honey, her mentality is very very juvenile and all she wants to do is snuggle and play. Regardless they are still very closely monitored. Also bobcats don’t even really prey on domestic cats unless they are desperate. •Are they at your house/do you get to snuggle the wild baby? No and NOPE. Bobcats are illegal to keep in most states (probably all but idk). They are also wild animals and make horrible pets – lets not forget what happened with Travis the chimp 😅 Both are currently with the properly licensed rehabber. There’s no human/bobkitten cuddling going on, the goal is for her be wary of humans so she can be safe as an adult in the wild. •Is Honey miserable? No, that’s just her face I think that’s most of em but I’ll answer whatever else I can in the comments! . #SpicyHoneybun #bobcat #bobkitten #TNR #itshiptobetipped #balllessandflawless #fosteringsaveslives #goodbyeisthegoal #fosterkitten #cutekitten #tinybutmightyPosted by Spicy Cats on Thursday, 6 October 2022

They contacted rescue and feral felines rehabilitator Spicy Cats, who had a resident momma cat that had taken care of litters of kittens that were not her own.

Honeybun had a big heart for all baby cats so they were hoping she would take in a wild kitten.

Caroline, president of Spicy Cats said, “She’s very, very maternal and patient so we knew she’d be perfect for the bobkitten.”

It would be a gamble to try this method but they are sure that Honeybun can handle it.

True enough, like a real mum would, Honeybun has treated the bobcat kitten like her own.  And even if her role is temporary, she has shown great patience towards the now very energetic foster baby. Eventually, the kitten would have to be placed with another bobcat at the Millstone Wildlife Center before releasing back into the wild.

Caroline said, “Millstone is planning a successful release in the spring!”

Thanks to Honeybun’s big heart and loving arms, the bobcat kitten will have a second chance at living where it is supposed to be.
