Excavators carefully lifted the final stone, revealing thirty-eight skeletons still arranged in their original burial positions, surrounded by gold ornaments, finely woven textiles, and ceremonial ceramics that remained exactly as they were placed in the 1400s.

“We are standing inside a moment frozen in time,” one archaeologist shared. “Every object tells the story of a society that thrived long before the Inca empire rose.”

The find has already been hailed by Peru’s Ministry of Culture as the most significant discovery of the decade, offering fresh insight into Chimú leadership, religious rituals, and everyday life. Conservation teams are now cataloguing each artifact so the collection can be shared with the world.
