Quick Smiles:

  • Friendly robin cozies up to photographer in a park.
  • Moment captured near the Amur leopard enclosure in Yorkshire.
  • Bird eventually flies off, leaving a lasting memory.

While exploring Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Fay Wadsworth was greeted by a robin seeking warmth, choosing her camera and hair as the perfect perch.

She recounted, “I was blessed by this very friendly—and presumably cold—robin at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.”

Fay had been waiting to photograph leopard cubs when she heard a flutter, only to find the robin settling on her camera and then on her hair.

She said, “Initially thinking it must’ve flown into me and got caught up in my hair, I freed his legs and opened out my hand, expecting him to fly away as quickly as he possibly could. But he didn’t; he stayed.”

Following the advice of park rangers, she remained close to the woodland edge while the little bird enjoyed her company.

Eventually, the robin took flight into a nearby tree and sang joyfully, marking a magical moment shared between human and bird.
