  • Lucy managed to escape when she was about to be sold to a dog meat market.
  • She was physically and mentally ill when Mission Pawsible took her in.
  • Fortunately, Lucy was able to recover, and even learned to trust people for the first time.

Lucy must have been one lucky pup for surviving life-threatening situations for three times.

The tiny mixed-breed puppy was found by a Good Samaritan at a building site in Bali. Her snout was wrapped by a fishing line, which gave suspicions, later on confirmed, that she managed to somehow escape before she was sold to a local dog meat market.

Mission Pawsible was able to rescue Lucy, who was then diagnosed with parvo, a potentially deadly canine virus. Vets gave her a 50 percent chance of survival.

Poor Lucy stayed in the animal hospital for two weeks. She suffered from physical ailments, but her mental health was worse. She was only staying inside her crate and would only come out to go to the bathroom.

“It was touch and go for a few days there, but after two weeks, Lucy finally started to show signs of recovery and was able to be moved into foster care,” Mission Pawsible said.

“After only one day, she started acting strangely and this time she tested positive for distemper — as if she hadn’t been through enough already,” the group added.

Lucy’s immune system worsened and she was “skin and bones.” The rescuers thought she wouldn’t pull through given all the trauma she endured.

When she became too frail to eat, they resorted to giving her organic bone broth by syringe to keep her strength up.

The tiny pooch must have felt all the love and TLC given to her, and soon she began to regain some stamina.

“We still have a long way to go but we are hopeful she has turned the final corner to start healing properly physically and we can work on her mental health also,” the shelter wrote.

Prue, the founder of Mission Pawsible, took Lucy under her care, and the little pup slowly began to come out of her shell and trust humans for the first time in her life!

After months of keeping herself away from people, even avoiding eye contact with anyone, Lucy has finally discovered that not all humans are dangerous.

The puppy has also warmed up to Prue’s dogs, and they’ve become her friends, too.

“Today is the first time she has EVER played in our care. It’s been a grueling and heartbreaking journey but we (well Murphy) did it,” Prue wrote. “Today I finally feel we have turned that mammoth corner of trust.”
