  • Sprinkles Cupcakes, beloved for its treats and Cupcake ATMs, has closed its doors.
  • Founder Candace Nelson expressed heartfelt gratitude to customers and employees.
  • The company grew from a single KitchenAid mixer to nationwide locations.

Sprinkles Cupcakes, the popular bakery known for its creative cupcake ATMs and joyful desserts, has closed all its locations. Founder Candace Nelson announced the closure on social media, reflecting on the journey that began in 2005 and thanking fans for their support over the years.

“Today is Sprinkles’ final day,” she shared on her post, expressing her amazement at the news. In a video message, Nelson said, “Just to say that out loud is completely surreal.”

Though Nelson sold the business in 2012, she admitted to feeling a lasting connection and had always imagined a bright future for Sprinkles. She mentioned having “no ownership or operational involvement in the company” for over a decade.

Customers flocked to the original Beverly Hills bakery to enjoy one last sweet treat before the closure. Nelson warmly invited fans to share their Sprinkles memories and expressed appreciation for the joy the cupcakes brought across the country. “I built this company as a point of joy and connection, and I hope to honor that. So share your favorite Sprinkles memory below,” she encouraged.

Sprinkles began from humble beginnings—with a KitchenAid mixer and a big idea—and grew into a cherished brand recognized for innovation and delighting dessert lovers everywhere.
