Sweet Dog Has Waited Years in Shelter, Watching 941 Animals Get Adopted

When the RSPCA’s Bath Cats and Dogs Home took in a sweet little puppy named Sue on August 22, 2017, they were sure that she would find her forever family soon.

Sadly, it has been four years and Sue is still at the shelter waiting.

Sue grew up in the shelter and was only adopted once in 2018. Her family had to return her, however, after a change in circumstances.

The shelter staff found it confusing that Sue has been passed over by potential adopters.

Their chief executive, Rachel Jones, shared, “We all absolutely adore her and love taking her out for long walks and giving her lots of attention,” but they’re growing desperate in finding her a forever home.

While waiting at the shelter, Poor Sue has watched 941 other shelter residents get adopted over her.

The staffers acknowledge that Sue has a few behavioral issues, but she is also doing well with her training. Jones explained that Sue can get “a little overexcited at times,“ so she can benefit from continued training.

Still, she’s described as sweet, clever, and “very affectionate.”

She loves snuggling, games, and meeting new pals. However, Jones suggests having her as the only pet in the home with only human adults.

“She’s a clever pup who has already mastered basic commands like ‘sit’ and ‘paw,’ but would certainly be able to pick up more. She is happy entertaining herself, but would like a new owner who is initially around for most of the time,” Jones added. “She can get overwhelmed at times in the home, so will need a quiet space to relax. We’d also like her to have a secure garden.”

Sue has become so beloved in the shelter, and while they want nothing more than to spoil her every day, they know that what she needs is a forever family.

Jones shared, “It really is time that she makes a fresh start with a lovely new family who can finally show her the love and security that she deserves.”
