  • Holly couldn’t believe it when her brother said he could teach their cat some tricks.
  • He proved her wrong when he taught the cat how to sit up, spin, “speak,” and play dead!
  • Misty the cat seemed to be enjoying performing the set of tricks, especially when she gets a treat afterward!

When it comes to teaching tricks, dogs are considered to be the masters among pets. But several cat parents have proven that a cat can be a master of tricks, too!

Take for another example this cat and brother team.

TikTok user Holly shared how she didn’t believe her brother Luke when he said he would teach their cat Misty some tricks.

Well, he managed to be successful at it, because Misty can now sit up, spin, “speak,” and play dead!

Misty looks so adorable as she performs her tricks — especially since she’s so obviously looking forward to the treat she gets afterward!

Luke was filled with pride at the end of the video, and rightfully so.

The video, which was posted back in September, has since been viewed over 25.3 million times!

The basics of training are pretty much the same when it comes to training cats and dogs. The important factors are patience, repetition, and positive reinforcement.

Cat training has a few differences, however, and it’s more on motivation.

Health and behavior editor Jenna Stregowski from RVT and Daily Paws explains, “The key to training any pet is to understand what motivates that pet. Dogs are stereotypically food-motivated and eager to please. Cats are often food motivated, but they may be pickier about the reward.”

Cats can be willing to train for food, but they are more likely to get bored by that method easily.

Since they are known to work smarter rather than harder, cat trainers need to keep their cat mentally engaged in the learning process, instead of relying on their eagerness for a treat.

Just take a look at when Misty couldn’t wait for a training exercise to get her treats. She decided to skip the middleman and go straight for the box of snacks!

Holly and Luke may wait a while longer before they can teach Misty to do some backflips.
