  • Akkodha is one talkative cat — and her meows are very expressive.
  • When her dad started chatting with her, she would mimic him when he says “OK.”
  • Soon, her meows started sounding more and more like the word “OK,” which she “says” whenever she’s asked a question.

Meet Akkodha, “the OK cat.” Her parents, Dan Spano and his wife, have known her to be a very talkative cat ever since she joined their family in 2006.

Akkodha has an expressive set of chirps and meows, and loves talking to her dad.

So Dan decided to start talking to Akkodha regularly like she was human. This led to adorable conversations!

One day, Dan noticed that Akkodha’s meows sounded a lot like the word “OK,” so he would repeat the word back to her always.

Akkodha has since associated the word “OK” with her dad and now loves saying it back. As the two talked more frequently, Akkodha’s meows started to sound more and more like the word “OK,” which led to her being called “the OK cat.”

Dan shared that Akkodha is usually more talkative when she wants something — which is often food.

So, their most interesting conversations happen in the kitchen pantry where her treats are located.

Their adorable conversations soon became beloved by Dan’s wife and friends, so he started capturing footage and sharing them on TikTok.

Dan shared, “I think it’s great that we put smiles on people’s faces. They’ll say, ‘Hey, I need an OK this week.’ Or, ‘As long as she says OK, I know everything will be fine.’”

My cat says ok part 1000. Sorry for the lack of content. I just got a new job and moved my family. Put in the comments questions I should ask Akkodha. 😸❤️OK #fypシ #cat #catsoftiktok ♬ Walk Home – Akkodha

Akkodha, who is now 15 years old, is “very affectionate” and loves snuggling with her parents.

“As soon as I get home from work and sit in my chair, she’s on my lap. She’s always following me around, always rubbing against your leg hoping to get pets,” Dan shared. “I can’t even imagine myself not having a cat — especially her. She’s like a part of the family. She’s never mad at you or grumpy, she’s always happy and excited to see you when you get home. It’s just a great feeling.”

You can see and hear more of this talkative cat on TikTok and Instagram.
