  • The newest PlayStation is highly-coveted by teenagers and serious gamers.
  • A teenager’s dream came true when his mom won a PlayStation 5 in a raffle.
  • Instead of keeping it, he gives it to a 10-year-old neighbor who is battling brain cancer.

The newest PlayStation 5 has been selling like hotcakes after release.  A 20-year-old customer in California waited outside one of the stores for 36 hours, just to have first dibs at it.  Owning one is a dream come true for some.

Because of its high demand in the market, its usual price of $400-500 has now reached upwards of $2,000 on eBay.  Serious gamers would make a call.

But for 16-year-old Angel Ortero, a smile on his neighbor’s face who is battling cancer, is even more important than the gaming console.

Firstly, he did not buy the PlayStation 5 and waited for hours in a store to have it but his mother won it in a raffle.

The junior at Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, gave the PlayStation to his 10-year-old neighbor Sonny Boyd, instead of keeping it for himself or selling it.

Sonny has been battling brain cancer and just recently underwent surgery for an injured leg.

Angel said, “Me being a 16-year-old kid I was just excited to play it, but… I thought [about Sonny’s] happiness being at such a young age and what he’s been through. I just think all the materialistic things aren’t important as the smile I could put on his face.”

But Sonny’s mother insisted on giving Ortero cash for the PlayStation and Ortero has decided to accept the cash for another cause.

Angel said, “I wanted that gift to be from me to Sonny. So, I took the money, bought as many toys as I could. I will be donating them to my grandmom.” His grandmother is a pastor in the Dominican Republic.

Ortero said, “I’m just keeping in mind all the hard things going around, the pandemic, all the struggles people are going through. If I could use my blessings and spread it with others just means the most to me.”

You are indeed aptly named, Angel Ortero!
