Teens Smash Guinness Record by Recycling Over Two Thousand Sports Balls in a Single Day

Back in March, the attempt was announced by a determined crew of California teens who wanted to prove that everyday sports gear could be given new life instead of tossed aside.

Last weekend, they delivered beyond expectations, collecting roughly 22,000 used pickleballs and tennis balls in a single day to earn the official Guinness World Record for most racquet-sport balls recycled.

The effort kept more than 2,675 pounds of plastic and rubber out of landfills, turning what would have been waste into reusable material for new products.

“We wanted to show that kids can lead the way on sustainability,” said one of the teen organizers.

“Seeing everyone come together for this goal was honestly incredible.”

Volunteers sorted, cleaned, and packaged the balls for a recycling partner that grinds them into material for playground surfaces and new athletic gear.

The teens hope their record inspires other communities to launch similar drives, proving that youthful energy and eco-action go hand in hand.
