Quick Smiles:

  • Young students in Virginia acted quickly to save their teacher from choking.
  • Each child took a unique role: calling for help, alerting staff, and providing first aid.
  • Their bravery was celebrated by the school and their grateful teacher.

Three young first graders at Lakeview Elementary in Colonial Heights became classroom heroes after a sudden emergency. When their teacher, Madison Swift, began choking, the students noticed immediately and sprang into action.

Dereck Contreras-Franco pressed the emergency call button and alerted the office. Bryson Doss ran to get another teacher for help. Kolton Hersh stayed by Swift’s side and gave her back blows, which successfully dislodged the food.

“They 100% saved my life,” shared Swift, expressing admiration for their courage. She believes their strong classroom bond made all the difference in their swift response.

The school recognized the trio on social media, praising their quick thinking. Swift called them “my little life savers!!” in a joyful comment.

To show her gratitude, Swift treated Kolton, Dereck, and Bryson to a visit to her classroom treasure box as a special reward for their life-saving actions.

Stories like this remind us of the courage and kindness our youngest community members can show. Share this heartening tale with someone who needs a dose of positivity today!
