  • Positivity and kindness turn tragedy into a heartwarming new beginning.

When Rhea Holmes lost her husband Eddie, she spent months sleeping at his grave, feeling lost and alone.

Despite the challenges of grief and homelessness, Rhea’s story took an unexpected turn when she was discovered by Officer Jamie Pastorello.

“I assumed that I was going to die there,” Holmes said of her nights in the cemetery, “but then along comes an angel.”

Officer Pastorello paid for Rhea’s hotel stay and connected her with the local college president, who offered her temporary shelter during winter break.

He also introduced her to A Tiny Home for Good, a nonprofit that soon provided Rhea with a home of her own.

“It was just the right thing to do,” said Pastorello. “And I wasn’t going to let Rhea sleep outside again.”

In just 20 days, Rhea went from sleeping in a cemetery to settling into her own cozy home, surrounded by support and new hope.
