What they didn’t know was Sparky had a lonely past. He got into an accident which broke his leg and led to multiple surgeries.

His owners were absolutely devastated. They did everything they could to take care of the pooch, but they weren’t the kind of owners Sparky needed. So, they selflessly gave him up so he could get the best care he deserved.

And that led him right to his forever family: Kennedy Simmons.

“Because they had seen him break his leg and it traumatized them a little bit, they were too scared to let him do anything once he had healed from the surgery, so they decided that he needed to have a puppyhood with someone that wouldn’t be scared to let him do stuff,” Kennedy said.

A veterinary assistant, Kennedy was the perfect person to adopt little Sparky.

His journey with Sparky was never easy. The fur dad had to call some tough decisions for Sparky. Despite all the operations, though, the dog’s leg never healed, so he eventually got amputated.

That could have left Sparky devastated, but it didn’t! He has even been happier than ever before.

“He is the biggest goofball, but he’s also very mischievous. If you don’t have eyes on him, he gets up on the table and snags food, or goes and grabs my socks from the hamper,” Kennedy said.

“Sometimes I describe him as a Sour Patch Kid because he will snag my food from the table, but then just come curl into my lap right after, as if he didn’t eat my meal. He is very fearless!”

Among all the silliest poses and faces he’s known for, Sparky’s awkward grin is the most adorable. And the funniest would probably be his ‘melting dog’ pose.

“As far as his success, I love how his pictures bring people together,” Kennedy said. “He is such a character, and he makes people happy!”
