Most often than not, we don’t really mind in what box our pizzas get delivered in.

But a pizza shop in New York is making pizza boxes more interesting! Not only is it something you’d be glad to take notice of, but it also aims to help a community organization in their noble works.

 Just Pizza & Wing Co.’s Amherst, New York branch has been attaching flyers on their pizza boxes featuring dogs who are up for adoption.

The best part is, they will give a $50 gift certificate to anyone who will adopt a dog featured on their pizza boxes.

Mary Alloy, the owner of the pizza franchise, came up with this unique idea when 3 of her children started volunteering for Niagara Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). With the help of the SPCA event coordinator, Kimberly LaRussa, they worked to help more animals in the shelter get adopted.

“Kimberly texted me one night and was like, ‘Hey, what would you think about putting pictures of the dogs on pizza boxes?’ and I just couldn’t wait,” Mary said. “We are all animal lovers here, so I got permission from the franchise to do it and immediately got to work.”

Last Friday, people started receiving their orders of pizza with the sweet dogs pasted on the boxes. Their reaction after receiving the pizza box has been satisfying.

Customers are “absolutely loving” it! In fact, just after a day of advertising sweet pups on the boxes, Larry, a 6-month-old puppy, got adopted on Saturday.

“We’ve had a tremendous amount of interest and support from the community and beyond since the story went viral on Friday,” Kimberly told CNN. “Many people want to order a pizza just to get the shelter dog photo, other pizzerias have offered to put flyers on their pizza boxes, and so many people are tagging their friends and family.”

This noble deed has returned them their goodness with more business. Under regular days, they would usually consume 600 to 800 boxes in a week. But since Friday, they have already used 500 boxes for just over the weekend.

Mary has always been passionate about giving.

She makes it a point to always give back to the community in whichever way she can—being involved in hospice care, non-profit medical organizations, autism centers, children’s hospitals, animal shelters, and more. 

“I try to do whatever I can for other organizations who need help,” Mary said. “We have donation boxes all over the store. Anything I can do to help the community, I’m going to do it.”

“We are so grateful to Mary and Just Pizza,” Kimberly said. Apparently, they have no plans of stopping this noble deed soon.
