A Boy’s Comic Reimagines Mom as Villain in Tender Tale

Quick Smiles:
- Stacy Goulding was surprised to learn she was the antagonist in her 9-year-old son’s comic book, The Emerald Warrior.
- Her son created a character called “No Mom” after she couldn’t take him to a restaurant right after his birthday.
- Goulding said the playful story made her laugh and showed off her son’s creativity and wit.
In the story, the hero uses a magical “yes spray” to turn the mother’s constant refusals into enthusiastic agreements.
“My son watched me read it aloud for the first time, and we both had a good chuckle,” Goulding said.
“I could see he took pride in making me laugh.”
“Good parenting isn’t about being liked by your child 100 percent of the time,” she added.
“It’s about helping them develop in the ways they need even if that temporarily makes you the villain.”
This lighthearted moment serves as a reminder that children often use creativity to process their feelings in entertaining ways.
