  • A video showing a cat enjoying a nap after creating a mess of the Christmas trees’ decorations has the internet in stitches.
  • The cat’s owner made it even funnier with the caption: “Someone give this hard worker a raise!”
  • Cats are attracted to sparkly and bright decorations thus the usual havoc that cats make to Christmas trees and ornaments.

For as long as Christmas trees have been set up, stories of cats swiping at the trees’ ornaments or taking the tree down always follow. Cats simply cannot leave it alone.  Cat parents have resorted to hanging the trees or putting a gate on the tree to prevent cats from destroying them.

That is why @lisanaughton3’s TikTok video of a trail of Christmas decorations panning to a snoozing cat has the internet in stitches.  It is a typical Christmas horror story.

With its belly up and foot by the wall of the window, the kitty showed that it did not care at all.

The caption “someone gives this hard worker a raise!” even made it funnier!

And the comments are just as hilarious. User Genevieve wrote: “The way the cat is all tuckered out after,” to which @queenfairies123 added: “it’s not much but it’s an honest work.” Neele jokes: “It’s hard work being a rebel.”

Other cat owners like WellllExcussseMe related, “I have little birds on my tree and they all end up in my room. my cats pick out the bird ornaments only!!!” while Amanda added: “Entire bottom of my tree is bare cos I keep having to move them up lmao.”

Oh, cats!

Animal charity Blue Cross explains that cats are attracted to bright and sparkly decorations. And warns of the dangers of the trees and decor.

Purina advised using artificial trees as fir trees, which are used as Christmas trees, are mildly toxic because of the oil that it produces. It can irritate the cat’s mouth and stomach.  The needles of Christmas trees can also puncture your cat’s gastrointestinal system.

Glass ornaments break and may hurt cats. Tinsel and angel hair can block cat’s passages and so these are not advisable, especially those made with toxic materials.

So, the best way is to securely attach all decorations and trees.

Cats will be cats. And for the video to receive more than 864,000 views and 163,500 likes so far, cats just prove they are adorable no matter what mischief they make.
