Amazon Driver Makes The Sweetest Delivery: Grandma With Alzheimer’s He Found On Street

An Amazon delivery driver from New Jersey has just made his sweetest delivery ever.

While at work, Wilmar noticed an old lady on the street. She was alone and at her age, Wilmar knew something is wrong.

“I was delivering and I saw this older lady was walking by,” Wilmar said. “She waved at me, which isn’t an odd occurrence, people wave at you all the time as an Amazon driver. But she was waving at me like something happened.”

The old lady is Grandma Gigi. She is 92 years old and has Alzheimer’s disease. She wandered away from home in the Franklin Park suburb. The home’s Ring doorbell camera captured her walking away from the house.

Wilmar stopped his van immediately to check on Gigi.

Thanks to technology, Gigi is wearing her medical alert bracelet. That’s how Wilmar learned that she lived nearby. He contacted the number on the bracelet and got a hold of her granddaughter Karen.

Wilmar drove the sweet old lady home. Karen was able to speak to Wilmar via their doorbell camera and made sure Grandma Gigi got back inside safely.

Karen cares for her grandmother and her father, who also has dementia. She expresses her gratitude to Wilmar for looking out for them.

“I felt that Wilmar went above and beyond,” Karen said. “We have that type of a great close-knit community here, that if there’s something that a driver’s going to spot, that’s out of line, he’s going to say, ‘I’m going to make sure that my customers are taken care of, because this doesn’t look right.’”

Wilmar said: “I think it’s very important that the community looks out for one another,” he explained. “If something happens, see something, say something. You just wanna make sure that your neighbors are safe, everybody’s happy. It benefits all as long as we’re all contributing.“
