Quick Smiles:

  • Billionaire Mark Stevens bought a luxury complex to provide affordable homes for Steamboat Springs workers.
  • Rents are set far below market rates, with no income limits or public subsidies.
  • Over 100 local residents now have the chance to live near their jobs and families.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado, received uplifting news when investor Mark Stevens purchased the high-end Riverview Apartments and opened the doors to local workers at much lower rates than the area’s typical prices.

A construction worker and his family are now able to save money while enjoying a comfortable home thanks to the new opportunity.

“We are pretty much saving a grand a month and living in town now,” Hutchison shared. “We feel very, very fortunate.”

More than 100 individuals have already moved in, benefiting from rates such as $925 for studios and $1,600 for two-bedroom homes—creating a sense of relief and hope among residents.

School counselor Anna Allsberry expressed gratitude for being able to remain in her hometown.

“The prices seemed too good to be true,” Allsberry said. “We were just so excited, relieved, and grateful. It didn’t feel real.”

This initiative is helping workers stay connected to the communities they love, making affordable, quality living possible right where they work.
