Congress Unites to Release Epstein Records
Quick Smiles:
- Bipartisan lawmakers join forces to seek transparency and justice.
- Survivors celebrate a significant step toward truth and accountability.
- Records will be released quickly while protecting victims’ identities.
Congress overwhelmingly passed a bill requiring the Justice Department to make public all unclassified records relating to Jeffrey Epstein, marking a rare and powerful moment of bipartisan agreement. Survivors in attendance embraced with tears and applause as the House delivered a 427-1 vote, followed by swift, unanimous endorsement in the Senate.
Both Democratic and Republican leaders praised the courage of survivors whose relentless advocacy inspired action. Lawmakers ensured the bill includes provisions to protect the identities of victims or those involved in ongoing investigations, with the Justice Department tasked to publish records within 30 days of enactment.
At a candlelight vigil, Annie Farmer paid tribute to the late Virginia Giuffre, saying,
“She immediately rallied all of us together and had this vision for what could happen, what people could learn from this, what she wanted to do with this platform and push that forward in such a brave way,”
Farmer continued,
“I feel like she’s here with us. I feel like she can see this. So thank you, Virginia, for all that you’ve done for us.”
Co-authors Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna led the effort to bolster support, stating the release of information will help the nation confront difficult truths and promote accountability. Massie noted,
“We fought the president, the attorney general, the FBI director, the speaker of the House and the vice president to get this win. They are finally on the side of justice.”
President Trump, after initially opposing the measure, ultimately pledged to sign the bill into law, saying it would help the country move forward. Survivor Jena-Lisa Jones urged that the issue remain above politics, asking,
“I beg you, President Trump: Please stop making this political.”
With the bill on its way to the president, hope rises for greater transparency while honoring the bravery of those who spoke out. Stay tuned as justice takes a meaningful step forward, bringing light and healing to many.
