A mother in Middle River, Maryland is celebrating her neighbor after his brave actions saved her family from a fire. Ashley Gubernat was able to get her two sons out when Steven Angelini encouraged her to drop them from a second-floor window and safely caught both boys.

“My oldest son was screaming, ‘Help me, help me.’ Banging on the side of the house,” Gubernat said.

Steven’s quick thinking and the support from other neighbors who brought a ladder helped everyone get out safely. No one was seriously injured, and the family is grateful for the heroic community response.

“He stood under me and he kept saying, ‘Drop them Ash, I got them. Drop them, I’m going to catch them. I’m going to catch them, just drop them,’” Gubernat shared.
