  • Keeping a business afloat during this time can be very difficult.
  • Thanks to clients who support small businesses and government assistance, some continue to survive.
  • One such business, Fenton’s Creamery, took to Facebook to thank a loyal customer who gave a $1,000 tip to their staff, along with all their other customers.

This year, 9 million businesses are in danger of closing and 90% of these businesses are still struggling to return to pre-pandemic levels of sales.

Amid this bleak scenario, loyal customers have come through and shown their appreciation for small enterprises.

Fenton’s Creamery, an ice cream parlor that was started in 1894 and located in Oakland, California took to Facebook to thank a “very generous” patron.

Fenton’s describes itself as the birthplace of rocky road ice cream. It was even featured in the 2009 Disney Pixar movie “Up”.

The company wrote in their post, “A very generous customer left a $1000.00 tip for our staff on a $63.31 check this week. She said she was just happy that we are still open. Amazing. And WOW.”

They also thanked all their customers for helping them stay open. It has been quite a trying year for them and so they are grateful that they survived.

“We are filled with Gratitude for ALL who have been able to stay in there with us this past year via take-out orders, curbside pickup, deliveries, gift card orders, caramel & chocolate sauce orders shipped to friends, Cake Orders, sweet notes of encouragement to us, and more,” they continued in their post.

They ended their post by saying, “We are very fortunate to have made it through this past year, and Thank You All for your Love and Support!!”
