Denver’s Mile Long Table Unites Community

In downtown Denver, more than 3,400 people came together at Longer Tables’ first-ever Mile Long Table event, dining along a stunning 5,280-foot table filled with local produce.

This special gathering, organized by the nonprofit Longer Tables, aimed to bring people of all backgrounds together over delicious food and friendship.

“The community response to our first Mile Long Table has been overwhelmingly positive,” shared Tim Jones, the founder of Longer Tables.

“Our goal is creating meaningful connections—and the table makes it all possible.”

Volunteers worked tirelessly to bring the event to life, and with support from Southwest Airlines, ten guests received surprise roundtrip tickets and lodging, reuniting with loved ones and making new bonds at the table.

Kim Evans traveled from Philadelphia for an emotional reunion and called it “truly a blessing.”

She left with new friendships and fond memories of the welcoming spirit she felt.

Lexi Muller of Southwest Airlines put it best: “We believe that community is more than a place; it’s the heart of what brings us all together.”

Diner Diana Samet expressed her delight, saying, “We met lots of folks and just felt a warm spirit of coming together as a community.”

Longer Tables, founded in 2013, has hosted over 100 events promoting belonging, and looks forward to making the Mile Long Table a cherished Denver tradition, as well as expanding the celebration in upcoming milestone years.
