Sadie Robertson Huff is counting her blessings after a terrifying moment nearly took her seven-month-old daughter, Kit, from her. The reality TV star is sharing her story to help other families prepare for emergencies.

The mother of three recently opened up on Instagram about the traumatic experience, hoping her story might save lives. She and her family were enjoying what should have been a relaxing vacation evening when everything changed in an instant.

Sadie was finishing dinner preparations while Kit ate a snack in her high chair. Suddenly, Kit began choking, and the entire family sprang into action.

“Within seconds, you could tell the severity of the situation,” she wrote.

“My mom pulled her from the high chair and placed my girl into my arms just as she stopped breathing.”

While Sadie’s mother called 9-1-1, the rest of the family quickly ushered the other children out of the room. Thankfully, Sadie had prepared herself by watching several baby CPR videos. She immediately began performing CPR on her infant daughter.

“I can only explain it now like my body just knew what to do; I felt God’s Spirit guiding me, partnering with me in what I had learned and seen,” she shared.

“I remember saying out loud, ‘what do I do?’ and then immediately started doing it and declaring life.”

A Miraculous Recovery

Just as the paramedics arrived, Kit began coughing and breathing again. Sadie rode alongside her young daughter in the ambulance to the hospital. Her husband, Christian, followed close behind and witnessed something extraordinary.

A rainbow formed above them during the journey—a sign of hope and God’s presence in their darkest moment.

“We stayed the night for observation,” she continued.

“But she charmed the nurses just a few hours later and is now perfectly healthy, happy, and brightening everyone’s day!”

The incident happened within the first hour of their family vacation. Despite the traumatic start, they were able to spend the rest of the week together, processing what happened and soaking in gratitude for the miracle.

“Sharing this as a testimony, and also as an encouragement for everyone to learn what to do in the case of an emergency,” she added.

“It happened SO fast, and I’m so thankful I was able to go straight into action!”

The devoted mother emphasized an important message for all parents: preparation matters, but so does faith.

“We know that God has our children in His hands — we are not in control of our children’s breath or even of our own. We can’t live in a state of fear… we have to trust God in all of it. And also, preparation and knowledge in the spiritual and physical sense can be a gift that you can give yourself and your family! Please join us in thanking God for this miracle!”
