  • Vintage film unearthed in thrift shop camera reveals crisp 1950s ski memories.
  • St. Moritz skiers captured on forgotten Verichrome Pan 127 film.
  • Ian Scott’s viral campaign hopes to reunite photos with families.

A charming roll of forgotten film was discovered inside an antique camera at a Salisbury thrift shop and developed by local photographer Ian Scott.

The images show joyful skiers on a 1950s trip to St. Moritz, Switzerland, complete with a woman gliding on ice skates before the iconic Badrutt’s Palace Hotel.

Clues like the Zeiss Ikon Baby Ikonta camera, 1956-era film, and Cow & Gate branded pennies point to the post-war era.

No leads on the photos yet, Scott told Smithsonian Magazine on February 19th.

It has been on TV and the Sunday Express and [my] Instagram, which had 8,000 views in 24 hours, but sadly, no leads.

There appears to be a great story behind these photographs, and it would be brilliant if someone could recognize a face amongst them, Scott told the Salisbury & Avon Gazette.

At the very least, it has been a privilege to have played a small part in preserving these moments from the past.
