Quick Smiles:

  • Lupita Nyong’o launches vital research grant for non-invasive fibroid treatments.
  • #MakeFibroidsCount campaign rallies donations and stories for greater awareness.
  • Empowering community shares spark conversations on women’s health victories.

Lupita Nyong’o turned her personal fibroid challenges into action by partnering with the Foundation for Women’s Health.

She underwent myomectomy surgery after discovering about 30 fibroids, yet remains optimistic as they inspire innovative solutions.

“It’s very empowering to play a role in solving your own problem,” she says.

Though fibroids affect 40% to 80% of people with uteruses, especially Black individuals, Nyong’o questions why common means normal.

“OK, if they’re this common, that doesn’t make it normal, right?”

The new grant funds minimally invasive options, promising better futures without repeated surgeries.

“We are going to select innovative proposals… so that doctors will not be uneducated about the symptoms of fibroids,” says Katy Brodsky Falco.

Join the #MakeFibroidsCount movement today by donating and sharing your story to build a healthier tomorrow for all.
