Quick Smiles:

  • Oscar Wilkins, age 9, became the star of his school’s nativity play after a heartfelt costume mix-up.
  • Instead of Elvis the Elf, Oscar arrived in a sparkly Elvis Presley outfit, delighting the audience.
  • The family and school embraced the joyous confusion, turning the moment into a cherished memory.

When young Oscar Wilkins was cast as ‘Elvis the Elf’ at his primary school, a hilarious mix-up led to unforgettable joy for his family and classmates.

Oscar told his family he’d be playing Elvis, sparking a search for the perfect rock ‘n’ roll costume rather than elfin attire.

Upon arriving at Penrhiwpeier Primary School in Wales, Oscar stood out among a group of elves, dressed in full Elvis Presley style.

His older sister Jade Smith remembered,

“We asked him if he was sure he meant Elvis and he said yes, ‘with a sparkly costume.’ He did not mention anything about an elf.”

The family only realized their mistake during the first performance, as Oscar took the stage in true superstar fashion.

“It was so funny. A week before they had all met up in costume for a dress rehearsal but didn’t tell us anything was wrong,” Jade shared.

Jade added,

“You never want your child to feel awkward but Oscar totally embraced it and that helped us all see the funny side of it.”
