@border_collielife Flip 9 weeks old did a great job! #bordercollie
A pint-sized Border Collie puppy named Flip has caught the internet’s attention by demonstrating his innate talents. Despite being only nine weeks old, Flip has proven his adeptness in herding sheep of much larger sizes.
The video featuring the young pup herding sheep into a pen was posted on TikTok by Backwoods Working Border Collies (BWR), who captioned the clip: “Flip, 9 weeks old, did a great job!”
Soon after the video was posted, it sparked admiration from viewers. During an annual meeting of sheep farmers, the BWR team showcased Flip and his parents, Tuff and Rosie.
“Tuff and Rosie did perfect,” a BWR representative said, adding, “Flip watched with anticipation, so just for fun, we decided to give him a try. He definitely exceeded our expectations, and everyone loved it!”
The video quickly became viral, with over 6 million views and 635,000 likes, with viewers expressing their astonishment at Flip’s abilities.
Comments varied from “Crazy how he just knows,” to “The most adorable thing I’ve seen on this app,” and “My border collie just told me not to get any ideas.”
BWR, established in 1993 in Vilonia, Arkansas, has had great success in breeding working dogs, a success that the diligent Flip clearly exemplifies.
As noted by the American Kennel Club, border collies are famous for their hard-working nature and are often used as working dogs on farms around the world. They are also popular show dogs in agility training, and make ideal family pets if they are kept engaged with activities like obedience training.
Flip’s first herding performance received a “standing ovation,” a proud moment indeed.
The BWR representative shared, “Since then, Flip continues to train and loves it. He enjoys wrestling with his brother Ruger, working with the sheep, lambs, and ducks, playing with toys, and receiving treats and attention.”
Acknowledging the support of the Honey Hill Animal Hospital’s local veterinarian, the representative stated that BWR “couldn’t do what they do” without their help.
The conversation ended with a note of gratitude for everyone who watched the video and echoed their love for the dogs “as much as we do.”
